Waiting Lover 05/13/15

May 12, 2015
Two years.
730 days.
17,520 hours.
1,051,200 minutes
63,072,000 seconds.

You stand on the same corner that you stood on the day you first met him awaiting the bus that he promised he'd be riding.
So you wait, and you watch several men get off the buses that you had hoped he'd be riding on
You watch them hug on their lovers who had been waiting at the corner just like you
You see their smiles and excitement

You feel the aura of love
And you want to join the party
But it seems as if you weren't invited
Because here you stand...
Heart in hand and hopeful, just waiting... Without the man who had promised you he was getting off the bus

But what if he didn't lie to you
What if he is getting off the bus but you are not his destination
Maybe two years ago you only served as a form of direction for him
As proof that you two weren't meant to last
That love wasn't standing on the corner with you anymore
But on a different corner with another woman

What if... What if you are waiting for a man that will never come
What if you are worth more than standing on a corner waiting....
Just Waiting...

Didn't your mother tell you not to wait on men
Didn't she tell you that the one for you will be placed in your life
She didn't tell you that he'd reach you after a long bus ride with you standing on a corner
....Waiting... For him

You are the subject of his winter toes
He was scared to tell you he'd never arrive at your corner in fear of breaking your heart
But you can't blame him when you held your heart in your hands with no guard up
You only had your hopes up and it has left you vulnerable

So here you are
On this corner
Waiting
To join this lovers party
The one that you weren't invited to
And it was proved to you, after you spent all hours of your night waiting for a bus chauffeuring the man you loved....
That the same who promised you he was getting off the bus was the same man that would never come back to your corner stop to love you and be yours again

After all I ask....

63,072,000 seconds.
1,051,200 minutes.
17,520 hours.
730 days.
Two years ......... later.

Was it worth the wait?
